The method involves opening a clutch (12) by an actuator (34) during activation of a vehicle stability control device (46) e.g. anti-lock brake system (ABS)-system. The clutch is moved into a position by the actuator depending on operating parameters of a vehicle, after termination of the activation of the vehicle stability control device, where the position corresponds to a reference position preset by a clutch pedal (30). The clutch is closed by the actuator with the termination of the activation of the control device. An independent claim is also included for a device for controlling an operation of a clutch arranged in a drive train of a vehicle.
