The method involves the injection of particle with which a start signal is generated in particular a periodical reference signal, these starting signal temporally coincides with the peak value of a signal, which is generated in a first monitor by the particles. The signal of the first monitor is measured at the time of the start signal. The monitor signals are measured as a function of phase displacements by consecutively arranged monitors, so that consecutively generated peak values are measured. An independent claim is included for particle accelerator.
