A system for monitoring a plurality of communication circuits (1500) configured to be switchably connected to one of the plurality of communication circuits. The system includes an AC current mirror (1515) in communication with the impedance element (1510). The system includes a monitor access element (1520) in communication with the AC current mirror (1515). The system includes a communication circuit monitor (1525) configured to be connected to the monitor access element (1520). To monitor the one of the plurality of communication circuits (1500), the impedance element (1510) is switchably connected to the one of the plurality of communication circuits (1500), thereby connecting the communication circuit monitor to the one of the plurality of communication circuits with a minimum of disruption to data communication within the one of the plurality of communication circuits.
