A communication device, and a method and a program for detecting a communication state are provided to remove waiting time by detecting a communication disable state between a mini component type audio system and a PC based on a response to a state notification request. A network controller(3) controls communication connection with the other device(2). A main controller(4) controls state detection of the network controller and data communication with the other device connected through the network controller. The main controller makes the network controller periodically detect the communication state by periodically transmitting the state notification request to the other device and detects the communication disable state with the other device based on the response received from the other device responding to the state notification request.
