<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power generator, utilizing a direct flame type fuel cell where thermal shocks to a solid oxide fuel cell are relaxed by adjusting the flame supply, and the occurrence of cracks and peeling is suppressed. <P>SOLUTION: The power generator uses a solid oxide fuel cell C having a solid oxide substrate 1, a cathode electrode layer 2 formed on one face, and an anode electrode layer 3 formed on the opposite side face, and supplies flame f2 by combustion of a mixed gas by a gas combustion burner 4 to the anode electrode layer, and adjusts the supply status of the flame by a mixed gas producing device 8. The status of flame at the time of operation start or operation stop is changed, by adjusting a mixture ratio of a fuel gas F and air A to be supplied to a gas buffer container 81, and the speed of temperature rise or temperature drop of the solid oxide fuel cell is adjusted.
