PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely prevent the image of a joint portion from being destroyed when performing joint recording of a new scene upon a scene recorded before by 24F pull-down recording. SOLUTION: An image recording device comprises: a recording frame rate detection circuit for detecting a recording frame rate; a time code recording mode detection circuit for detecting the setting state of recording a time code input from the outside or recording an internally generated time code; a time code input circuit for inputting a time code from the outside; a time code generation circuit for internally generating a time code; and a time code selection circuit for selecting whether to supply a time code from the time code input circuit or from the time code generation circuit. In 24F pull-down recording, the supply of a time code from the time code input circuit is forcibly prohibited and the supply of a time code from the time code generation circuit is selected.
