PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spark plug and an ignition device, capable of improving the ignition performance and improving utilization efficiency of energy by suppressing supply voltage. SOLUTION: The ignition device 1 is constituted of a spark plug 2 and a power supply for ignition 3. The spark plug 2 is constructed of a first center electrode 22, a second center electrode 23, a ground electrode 24, a high-voltage diode 26 which impresses a negative-polarity voltage on the first center electrode 22, and a high-voltage diode 27 which impresses a positive-polarity voltage on the second center electrode 23. A first discharge gap G1 and a second discharge gap G2 are formed, respectively in between the first center electrode 22 and the second center electrode 23 and the ground electrode 24. By changing the polarity of output voltage of the ignition power supply 3, discharge is selectively made by either the first discharge gap G1 or the second discharge gap G2. Accordingly, ignition performance can be improved, and utilization efficiency of energy can be improved by suppressing the supply voltage. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
