PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a volute chamber type combustion chamber of a diesel engine suppressing discharge of blue-white smoke in engine start. SOLUTION: In the volute chamber type combustion chamber of a diesel engine, a cylinder head 4 is assembled on a cylinder 2 through a gasket 3, a volute casing 10 is formed in the cylinder head 4, a fuel injection nozzle 11 faces the volute casing 10, a main combustion chamber 12 is formed in the cylinder 2, an injection port 14 is formed in a bottom wall 13 of a connector 7 so that the volute casing 10 communicates with the main combustion chamber 12 through the injection port 14, the gasket 3 is arranged between a lower face of the cylinder head 4 and an upper face of the cylinder 2, and a gasket connector position part 3a is clamped between the lower face 15 of the connector 7 and the upper face of the cylinder 2. A lower opening heat insulating space 16 is formed in the bottom wall 13 of the connector 7, the lower opening of the lower opening heat insulating space 16 is forced to face the gasket connector position part 3a.
