PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing method which is unaffected by the ruggedness on the surface of a recording medium and is satisfactory in graininess in performing transfer and fixation, and can perform the transfer and fixation with suppressed glossiness unevenness. SOLUTION: An image forming material in a first nip section 50 is deformed to the extent as to substantially obviate the occurrence of deformation of a toner layer in a second nip section 51 if the transfer and fixation conditions in the second nip section 51 are the conditions of the range used in the ordinary transfer and fixation such that the height of the toner layer after passage through the first nip section 50 attains≤40% of the height of the toner T being the image forming material before advancing into the first nip section 50.
