PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily fix a reading unit in a housing. SOLUTION: The image reader 20 for reading the image of an original is equipped with: the housing 30 presenting a box shape; a light source unit 41 equipped with a light source lamp 411 radiating light to the image of the original and the reading unit 40 reading the image of the original by making reflected light from the image of the original being the light from the light source lamp 411 enter a predetermined CCD unit 50, and capable of moving in the housing 30; and a fixing means for fixing the reading unit 40 in the housing 30. The fixing means is equipped with: a drawing arm 68 moving the reading unit 40 to a fixing position where the reading unit 40 should be fixed and positioning it thereat in such a state that it is positioned near the fixing position; a lock pin 63 locking the reading unit 40 positioned by the drawing arm 68; and an operation member 69 making the drawing arm 68 and the lock pin 63 perform their one-touch control through easy operation.
