PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve photographing that ensures the satisfactory finish of a photograph, by appropriately illuminating almost the middle and periphery of the photographing range of the photographing means of a photographing apparatus. SOLUTION: The photographing apparatus includes a camera 2 for photographing a user in a photographing booth 7, and an illuminating means 3 for illuminating a user in the photographing booth 7 when photographing takes place, wherein the illuminating means 3 has: a first illuminating part 3a that illuminates almost the middle 21A of the photographing range 21 of the camera 2 from obliquely above; a second illuminating part 3b that illuminates almost the middle 21A of the photographing range 21 from obliquely below; and an upper illuminating part 3c that is disposed higher than the first illuminating part 3a and illuminates an area higher than almost the middle 21A of the photographing range 21.
