PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fouling preventing method which makes the long-term continuous operation of liquid phase parts and gas phase parts in respective processes smooth and easy, by preventing the generation of a fouling due to polymerization of a diene compound and a popcorn polymer in a manufacturing process, a purifying process, a recovering process, a storage process or a transportation process of the diene compound, and further, by preventing the generation of a fouling, for which sufficient effect has not been exhibited so far, at portions where gaseous diene compound comes into contact with. SOLUTION: The fouling preventing method is a method of preventing a fouling due to the polymerization of the diene compound and a residual popcorn polymer, by using a specified piperidine-1-oxyl compound in the presence of oxygen in the manufacturing process, purifying process, recovering process, storage process or transportation process of the diene compound; and furthermore, it is a method of preventing the fouling due to the polymerization of the diene compound and the popcorn polymer, by using together both of the piperidine-1-oxyl compound and an N, N-disubstituted hydroxylamine compound in the presence of oxygen.
