PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer that is compact and has many ink drop generators. SOLUTION: An ink drop generator 40 of ink drop generator groups 62 and 63 is disposed along both edges facing each other of an ink feed slot 72 and is electrically divided into a plurality of base element groups P1 to P6. The ink drop generator of a specific base element is connected in parallel so as to enable the switching with the same heater resistor operation signal. Each base element group receives a different heater resistor operation signal, and is formed by a subset of an ink drop generator of the group 62 of the one side of the ink feeding slot 72 and a subset of an ink drop generator of the group 63 of the opposite side.
