A control method for an image sensing apparatus provided with an operation unit for receiving input from a user and a communication unit for communicating with an external processing device, and having a power saving mode for stopping supply of electrical power to at least a part of the image sensing apparatus if no input to the operation unit is performed for a predetermined time period is disclosed. The control method selects one of a plurality of operation modes including at least image sensing mode and playback mode, and controls a shift to the power saving mode depending on the selected operation mode and a state of communication with the external processing apparatus using the communication unit.
