<p>The tank scraper carriage (14) runs on top of the sedimentation tank (10) wall (16). It includes a blower (28) with air outlet (30) discharging onto the top of the wall, attached to the carriage in a leading position. A radiant heater (26) is directed onto the top of the wall just ahead of the carriage. The blower air inlet (32) is located above the radiant heater. A wall scraper (24) is mounted in a leading position on the carriage, and reaches down onto the top of the wall. The radiant heater is dimensioned to heat the wall top surface for 1-5 seconds, preferably about 2 seconds, and only in a region ahead of the carriage.
