The chip has hollow chambers (20A, 20B) provided in a substrate, where the substrate material is a plastic material. The hollow chambers are deformed in a deforming direction under influence of clamping force exerted by a clamping device. A pressure transducer (60) determines the pressure change resulted by the exerted clamping force, and the determined pressure change represents the rate of the clamping force. An independent claim is also included for a device for determining the clamping force produced by a clamping device.
