An ATM(Automated Teller Machine) having a recycling and supplementing box and an operation method thereof are provided to increase productivity of the ATM by using the recycling and supplementing box according to a recycling mode, a supplementing mode, and a recycling/supplementing mode by a control unit. An ATM having a recycling and supplementing box(500) is composed of a control unit controlling the receipt and drawing of bills; a receiving and drawing unit(100) letting a customer put in or draw out the bills; a conveying path(200) transferring the bills received or drawn out through the receiving and drawing unit; a discriminating unit(300) installed on the conveying path to detect abnormal bills; plural recycle boxes(400,401,402,403) stacking the bills inserted through the discriminating unit and drawing the stacked bills through the discriminating unit; a bill withdrawal unit(600) receiving the defective bills detected by the discriminating unit; and the recycling and supplementing box receiving and drawing the bills by a request signal of the customer and filling up the recycle boxes with the bills stacked inside. The control unit selects one of a recycling mode for using the recycling and supplementing box for the receipt and drawing of the bills and a supplementing mode for using the recycling and supplementing box to fill up the recycle boxes with the bills. |
