<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a certain amount of a liquid, a substance to be transported, to be transported stably to an intended area. <P>SOLUTION: First and second stop areas 17a, 17b for stopping a liquid in drops and a transport electrode 14 that excites elastic waves 18 for transporting the liquid in drops in the first stop area 17a to the second stop area 17b are provided on a transport surface of a chip 12. Affinity to the liquid on the transport surface is configured to have a difference in its level in such a way that the liquid in drops in the first stop area 17a is transported on the transport surface by the elastic waves 18 and that the transported liquid stops in the second stop area 17b in roughly the same amount with the liquid in the first stop area 17a and in drops.
