<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate a reliable random number with minimized power consumption while reducing the circuit scale of a random number generator and reducing the manufacturing cost thereof. <P>SOLUTION: An intermediate potential generation part 2 generates an intermediate potential substantially equal to a threshold of a field effect transistor connected to a data terminal of a D flip-flop 3. When the value of the intermediate potential is lower than the threshold of the field effect transistor when input of clock signal CLK to the D flip-flop 3 is active, the D flip-flop 3 retains "0" until the input of clock signal CLK becomes active next, and outputs "0" as random number data. When the value of the intermediate potential is higher than the threshold of the field effect transistor when the input of clock signal CLK is active, the D flip-flop 3 retains "1" until the input of clock signal CLK becomes active next, and outputs "1" as random number data. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
