<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a component for vehicle and its induction hardening method capable of establishing a required strength distribution easily through a hardening process. <P>SOLUTION: A center pillar 10 as component for a vehicle body formed through press working is equipped with a middle top part 11 whose up-and-down direction is a longitudinal direction and a pair of side wings 12 both bending from the middle top part 11 toward inside the vehicle on both sides in the vehicle fore-and-aft direction of the middle top part 11 in such an arrangement that the bending direction is identical to the width direction, wherein the middle top part 11 and the side wings 12 are furnished with a hardened region Q due to the induction hardening with the outside contour shown by the two-dotted chain line 19 and also non-hardened regions, and the non-hardened region is furnished with a hole 18 formed at the time of press working prior to the induction hardening, in which the proportion of the hardened region Q and the non-hardened region varies along the longitudinal direction. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p> |
