PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a luminance control method in which luminance can be made uniform by precisely correcting luminance unevenness on the display surface of a panel which is not a self-luminous light emission type. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device 1 includes a storage section 3, a control section 5, a back light unit 7, a correction section 9, a liquid crystal panel driving section 11, and a liquid crystal panel 13, and the storage section 3 preliminarily stores correction values for making the luminance of the display surface of the liquid crystal panel uniform. When display data 15 are input, the correction section 9 detects the display position of the display data 15, reads the correction value corresponding to the detected display position out of the storage section 3, and corrects the gain of the display data 15.
