PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical device which has the functionality and the operability improved. SOLUTION: The optical device having a zoom operation switch for indicating a zoom operation, a first zoom mode of changing a zoom speed dependently upon a press amount given to the zoom operation switch, and a second zoom mode of keeping the zoom speed fixed independently of the press amount given to the zoom operation switch, includes a speed setting switch for indicating switching of the zoom speed between the first zoom mode and the second zoom mode and a changeover switch for indicating switching between the first zoom mode and the second zoom mode.
