PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate transportation even when a compressor is arranged in the ceiling of a refrigerator. SOLUTION: A transporting handle structure for the refrigerator includes an insulated box 5, a recess 6 that is a machine compartment defined at the back of the ceiling of the insulated box 5 to store the compressor 7, and a handlebar 8 that is a handle part at the back of the recess 6 as the machine compartment used for transporting the refrigerator. The handle part ensures lateral strength of the back of the machine compartment, and the handlebar 8 is positioned so as to be substantially flush with a back panel 19 or project back. Even in the refrigerator with the compressor mounted in the highest refrigerator recess, the strength of the handle part can be ensured to facilitate the transportation of the refrigerator, whose elevated gravity center position applies a larger load to the handle, and the installation space of the refrigerator can be reduced.
