PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for cooling a yarn, which makes it possible to stably spin the fineness irregularity-free, high quality yarn that solves various problems of conventional techniques, such as fineness irregularity and single filament breakage caused by the factors such as cooling failures, cooling irregularity, or filament sway developed on the cooling of the spun yarn. SOLUTION: This device for cooling the yarn is characterized by disposing a cylindrical cooling gas blowout means which is disposed just under an annealing region for annealing the multifilament yarn spun from a spinneret in which spinning hole groups for extruding a thermoplastic polymer are formed on multiple concentric circles, under the spinneret, and radially blows a cooling gas on the multifilament yarn spun from the spinning hole groups, circularly and multiply arranged and traveling on the downstream side from the outermost peripheral side to the inner most peripheral side, and a wind speed-controlling means for controlling the cooling gas blown from the uppermost stream side blowout portion of the cooling gas blowout means at a lower speed than the wind speed of the cooling gas flowed out from the downstream side blowout portion.
