PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a washing machine which prevents the temperature of an outer tank from rising abnormally when there is no water inside the outer tank during a heated washing process and improves credibility. SOLUTION: The washing machine is provided with a heated washing process for conducting washing process by heating the washing water by controlling a heater 14. The washing machine is structured in a way that, during the heated washing process when the power starts supplied to the heater 14 the power is supplied intermittently so as the power to be turned on during a first prescribed period and then turned off during a second prescribed period and such intermittent distribution of power is repeated for a specified number of times thereby prevents the temperature of the outer tank 26 from rising abnormally when there is no water inside the outer tank 26 and improves credibility.
