TREE CROWN CIRCLE EXTRACTION SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tree crown circle extraction system for achieving an accurate tree crown shape by correcting the projection distortion on photographing.

SOLUTION: A plurality of orthophotograph images are produced which are obtained by correcting the projection distortion of photographs taken from the air over an area to be surveyed by observation equipment mounted on an airplane, an artificial satellite or the like. Regarding every pixel in the plurality of produced orthophotograph images, radii of tree crown circles are estimated. The tree crown circles are sequentially extracted in descending order of the size of the circle, and small tree crown circles included in the extracted tree crown circles are eliminated so as to extract the tree crown circle.
