<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feeder capable of taking/putting a paper feed cassette for pivotally supporting a pickup roller from/in a device body without degrading the strength of a component of the device body. <P>SOLUTION: A paper feed unit 21 comprises a cassette casing 22 having an entrance T, a paper feed cassette 23 which is fitted in the cassette casing 22 from the entrance T in a freely accessible manner to store paper sheets, and a pickup roller 24 which is provided on the paper feed cassette 23 to deliver the paper sheets stored in the paper feed cassette 23.
