PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk device capable of detecting whether or not a clamp operation is normally performed before a disk is rotated when the disk is installed at a rotational drive part by a transfer mechanism. SOLUTION: After the disk is loaded on the rotational drive part by the transfer mechanism and the clamp operation (S25) is performed, a rotation command is supplied to the spindle motor Ms of the rotational drive part while the disk is held and restrained by the transfer mechanism (S52). When the rotation of the spindle motor is not detected (S53), it is determined that the clamp operation is normally performed (S55).
