PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine capable of efficiently discharging oil in a crankcase. SOLUTION: This internal combustion engine 20 has a cylinder 33 storing a piston 37 in a cylinder chamber 33A, a crankcase 34 rotatably storing a crankshaft 39 in the crankcase 34A communicating with the cylinder chamber 33A, a connecting rod 38 pivotally joined to the piston 37 and the crankshaft 39, and a reed valve 60 arranged in the crankcase 34 and opening and closing in response to pulsation of the crankcase 34A; and is formed for communicating an oil storage chamber 34B formed of the crankcase 34 and storing lubricating oil with the crankcase 34A via the reed valve 60 by forwardly slantingly arranging a cylindrical shaft A of the cylinder chamber 33A in a vehicle 1.
