PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal printer which is equipped with a pressing mechanism on which a compressive coil spring for pressing a thermal head and a platen roller is suitably mountable. SOLUTION: The pressing mechanism 30 for pressing the thermal head 12 and the platen roller 13 of the thermal printer 1 employs the compressive coil springs 33 which each have an end 33a thereof formed into a folding guide portion 33b linearly extending within a winding diameter. When the end 33a of the compressive coil spring is mounted on a spring hooking protrusion 34A, the protrusion 34A is inserted into a cavity enclosed by the folding guide portion 33b and an arched winding wire portion 33e adjacent to the same, and therefore the mounting location of the compressive coil spring 33 on the protrusion 34A and the mounting position of the same in a winding direction are restricted, and therefore the coil springs 33 are mountable in the pressing mechanism in a manner assuming the same position as each other.
