The device has a detection unit (17) detecting trailer-towing vehicle-angle positions that define an actual position of a trailer relative to a towing vehicle. An evaluating unit (14) evaluates a reference-steering lock angle as a steering control command for an automatic steering change. A control device (16) executes the control command. A reference valve filter (10) is provided with filter parameters that are controlled depending on the trailer-towing vehicle-angle positions, and produces reference variable for the regulation of the steering change by filtering the driver parameter. An independent claim is also included for a method for regulating a reversing of a towing vehicle-trailer-combination.
