<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display color control method and a video display device to which the control method is applied for controlling an arbitrary color, without destroying an image within a range suitable for video display, in a television receiver or display device capable of displaying video information. <P>SOLUTION: A video display device 11 includes a color map indication 115 for sequentially displaying a color into which a defined color is changed; a color cursor 117 for displaying, on the color map indication, the color after the defined color is changed; and a video processor for outputting to a video display unit or an external output terminal so as to display control bar indications 121, 123 to be displayed near a color map while relating a moving direction of the color cursor to a color change, in the case of further changing the changed color when further changing the changed color displayed by the color cursor.
