<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device and an image forming apparatus which are capable of relaxing restrictions on layout of a reflective optical sensor by preventing sensor erroneous detection due to a material or disposition of a counter part of the reflective optical sensor. <P>SOLUTION: In a fixing device 1 wherein a recording medium like a paper or a sheet is allowed to pass a nip part formed between a pair of fixing members 2 and 3 and a toner image is fixed onto the recording medium during this passage, a reflective optical sensor 10 for detecting a conveyance state of the recording medium is installed in a recording medium conveyance path in the downstream side of the nip part so that an optical axis of the sensor 10 crosses this conveyance path, and a surface of a counter part 12 of the reflective optical sensor is inclined to the optical axis and is made of a member 13 having a high infrared reflectivity. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
