PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems that a recording area becomes large, format efficiency is degraded and time required for learning is long since marks of all the combinations of three consecutive cells are recorded in a learning system used in a multivalued system. SOLUTION: For the total value of the multiple values of front and rear cells in three or more consecutive cells, two or more reproducing signal amplitude values that a center cell can take are acquired for the respective levels of the center cell. Non-acquired reproducing signal amplitude values are calculated for the respective levels of the center cell by linear interpolation based on the acquired reproducing signal amplitude values.
