PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a synchronization signal adding system suitable for recording and reproducing information using a hologram recording medium. SOLUTION: The information to be recorded is converted to a two-dimensional code symbol for each prescribed unit (for each byte or the like for instance). By using the two-dimensional code symbol, a group main sync which is the addition unit of a main synchronization symbol is formed, and first to Nth main synchronization symbols are imparted to the respective group main syncs according to the rule of a prescribed order or the like. For instance, when many group main syncs are arrayed as a physical page, first and second main synchronization symbols are alternately imparted in a vertical direction and a horizontal direction. The physical page is generated in such a manner, the physical page is made with an element hologram and recorded on a hologram material. In such a manner, different reproduction waveforms P1, P2 and P3 are obtained according to a scan position during reproduction and the scan position is detected. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
