PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical system which can satisfactorily correct various kinds of aberration such as chromatic aberration, which can be easily manufactured, and which is superior in environmental durability. SOLUTION: In the optical system having a lens element and a composite optical element having an optical characteristic different from that of the lens element and including a resin layer cured by heat or light so as to be laminated on the lens element, the boundary surface between the lens element and the resin layer is an aspherical shape, and satisfies the conditions of -1.5<Rref/L<-0.3 and 0.1<¾ndg-ndj¾ or 5<νdg-νdj¾, where Rref is a reference radius of curvature of the boundary surface in an effective diameter; L is the distance on the optical axis from a diaphragm to the boundary surface defining the on-axis FNo light ray, in the state that the focal length of the entire optical system is the shortest; ndg is the refractive index of a material constituting the lens element with respect to a d-line andνdg is its Abbe number; and ndj is the refractive index of a material constituting the resin layer with respect to the d-line andνdj is its Abbe number.
