<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optimize the gradation level of a toner patch image in accordance with image forming conditions and accurately detect density characteristics in an entire gradation area in a control to stabilize an image to be performed with a few number of patches (number of gradation levels). <P>SOLUTION: The method of generating a patch image changes a patch level to be used in forming an image pattern in accordance with the image forming conditions. Namely, in patch image generation to be used to prepare a density correction table to correct the input image data to output an image having a gradation corresponding to the input image data, the method detects the image formation conditions during the formation of an image and forms a patch image made up of a prescribed number of gradation levels in accordance with the detected image formation conditions. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
