PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To save power of a liquid metal relay and to increase a life of the liquid metal relay by reducing quality degradation caused by heating. SOLUTION: In a state that a magnet 3 is not brought near to left side surfaces 42, 55 of a silicon substrate 4 and a glass substrate 5, since a liquid metal 2 is on an electrical contact 53 of a cavity 10 and is not on an electrical contact 54, there is electric insulation between the electric contacts 53, 54. In the insulation state, when the magnet 3 is brought near to the left side surfaces 42, 55 of the silicon substrate 4 and the glass substrate 5, the liquid metal 2 is pulled by a magnetic force of the magnet 3 to move to the left side in the cavity 10. This converts a space between the electrical contacts 53, 54 from the insulation state to the conduction state through the liquid metal 2. In the conduction state, when the magnet 3 is brought far from the left side surfaces 42, 55, the liquid metal 2 moves to the left side in the cavity 10 due to a pressure of a gas in a part 101 of the cavity 10 to convert the space between the electric contacts 53, 54 from the conduction state to the insulation state.
