PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a superior optical recording method by which the efficiency of recording and reproduction becomes high when performing recording or reproduction, focus control, etc. by using a laser beam, and a layer configuration of an optical recording medium itself becomes simple, without being influenced by deviations of optical axes of a plurality of laser beams caused by an error of a optical recording and optical reproduction apparatus, and to provide an optical recording apparatus and an optical recording medium therefor. SOLUTION: The optical recording method includes; a servo step which performs a tracking servo of recording light based on at least either of track information and address information light and a focus servo of recording light based on focus distance information by irradiating an optical recording medium equipped with a hologram memory recorded with focus position information including track information, address information and focus distance information in a recording layer with recording light, and receiving diffraction light; and a interference image recording step which records a plurality of bits with one recording when recording an interference image on a recording layer by moving a focus position of the recording light so that the focus position of the recording light may become a position other than the hologram memory, and irradiating the recording layer with the recording light.
