PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material detoxifying a hazardous hexavalent chromium contained in a various waste liquid and waste water capable of manufacturing with simple equipment in low cost and friendly to environment without using pH adjuster having strong toxicity. SOLUTION: Wood pieces, which are chipped wood, are heat-treated, then washed by a dilute hot water of sodium carbonate, which is a weak toxic treating agent also used for foodstuff, and are subjected to solid liquid separation to prepare a wood extract solution. Alternatively, the obtained wood extract solution is further are mixed with crushed pieces of oyster shells, agitated and aerated, and then subjected to prepare a wood extract solution.
