A broadcasting receiving apparatus and a control method therefor are provided to allow a user to conveniently view desired contents by selecting a channel according to certain priority in consideration of whether a channel signal exists for a redundancy channel about the same contents. A user selection unit(50) allows a user to select a channel. When a plurality of the same channels corresponding to the channel selected through the user selection unit(50) exist, a control unit(60) judges whether contents corresponding to a plurality of the channels are identical. When the contents are identical, the control unit(60) converts a channel among a plurality of the same channels according to certain priority. The control unit(60) judges whether a signal corresponding to a tuned channel exists. When the signal does not exist, the control unit(60) converts a current channel into a next channel according to the priority. |
