<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning device of a nozzle with which the nozzle can be purely cleaned even if cleaning liquid is not used, and to provide a method for cleaning the nozzle in an electronic component mounting device. <P>SOLUTION: At the time of picking up an electronic component by suction, and removing foreign matters attached to the lower end of the nozzle 10 transferred to a work such as a substrate; the nozzle 10 performs horizontal movement (a), vertical movement (b), horizontal rotation (c), and an exhaust operation (d) in a state where the nozzle 10 is lowered and pushed to an upper face of a cleaning tape 32 supported by a low reception 43 where a recess groove 43a is formed from below, the cleaning tape 32 is inserted into the recess groove 43a, and the lower face of the cleaning tape 32 is made to abut on a base 43c of the recess groove 43a.
