<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an input/output device generating a tactile sense in a fingertip of an operating user, exerting large durability to physical contact, allowing advanced reduction in thickness, and having large flexibility on a design. <P>SOLUTION: This input/output device 16 has an operation plate 22 formed of a plate-like member, and the operation plate 22 is supported on a board 32 through a plurality of piezoelectric elements 34TR, 34TL, 34BR, 34BL. The user presses and operates the operation plate 22 by the fingertip. When force is applied to the operation plate 22, the plurality of piezoelectric elements each generate an input signal on the basis of voltage generated in each of the piezoelectric elements. When the force is applied to the operation plate 22, voltage is applied to each the piezoelectric element to drive the operation plate 22.
