Classes 52(2) and 52(4) A chair has a unitary seat and backshell 1 supported on a single central pedestal 2 having flat horizontal surface 2d abutted by a portion 1a of shell 1, the two parts being secured together by a through bolt 4, nut 5 and spring washer 3. A cushion 7 has a circular flap or pocket 8 containing within a hem 8a a drawstring 9, the hem 8 being received beneath the flange 3a of washer 3. In a modification, Fig. 4, a bolt 18 engages a stud 17 moulded or otherwise firmly anchored in column 16. In a further modification, Fig. 5, a base section 22 is also anchored by a bolt 25. In another modification, Fig. 6, the seat is rotatable on a ball bearing 33, a washer 35 of antifriction material being provided between the column 28 and the chair shell 1. |
