PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading device for always keeping optimum reading image quality by preventing bending of platen glass. SOLUTION: A scanner unit 3 includes a manuscript mounting stage 5 having an upper face opening, a platen glass 20 exposing through the opening to an upper face of a manuscript mounting stage 5, a carriage 27 movable in parallel with the platen glass 20 in the manuscript mounting stage 5, a CIS 26 mounted on the carriage 27 for performing image reading at a reading line in a prescribed direction through the platen glass 20, roller units 42, 46 arranged near to both the edges and the center in the reading line direction of the CIS 26 and fitting to the platen glass 20, and a coil spring 54 arranged at the carriage 27 for pushing the CIS 26 to the platen glass 20.
