PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent generation of vibration and noise relating to a shim 5 for adjusting initial relative position of an assembly (an input arm 41 as a cam struck member, an output arm 42 as a valve striking member) to a slider gear 43 in a variable valve train varying operation characteristics of at least one of an intake valve 14 and an exhaust valve 15 of an internal combustion engine 1. SOLUTION: In the variable valve train 3, the shim 5 for adjusting initial relative position of the assembly and the slider gear 43 is installed in a gap between the assembly and a bulkhead 21 as a support stand in an axial direction. An attachment piece 5b for attaching and fixing a plate shape piece 5a of suitable thickness installed between the assembly and the bulkhead 21 in the axial direction on the bulkhead 21 is formed as one unit on the shim 5. Consequently, vibration and noise generated by interference of a shim and a separated holder in a conventional example are not generated at all. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
