PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a smoke emission reduction device for a diesel engine capable of preventing the run down of an on-vehicle battery and reducing diesel smoke discharged from the engine for a while after cold start. SOLUTION: ECU 21 performing high pressure control of fuel injection pressure when turning off of after glow is detected based on after glow voltage is provided on a common rail injection device 13 generating fuel injection pressure without depending on engine rotation speed and injecting high pressure fuel in a combustion chamber according to the fuel injection pressure.
