PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a can crushing device capable of passing cans in a state of not being crushed or in a state of being crushed to the middle, in the case cans which can not be crushed are detected, and further, capable of passing only the perfectly crushed ones, regarding the cans requiring crushing. SOLUTION: The can crushing device comprises: a pressing plate 300 whose one end is freely turnably supported by a shaft 301; a fixed plate 203 of crushing a can with the pressure-contact face in the pressing plate; a piercing member 312 provided at the pressing plate; a slide supporting part 400 of supporting the shaft 301 in the pressing plate; an elastic member 403 of energizing the slide supporting part in a direction separated from the fixed plate; and a cam member 420 of holding the slide supporting part in such a manner that the distance between the slide supporting part and the fixed plate can be changed; and further comprises a driving means 431 of moving forward and backward the cam member in a direction parallel to the pressure-contact face in the fixed plate and changing the distance between the freely rotatably supported one end of the pressing plate and the fixed plate.
