PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner by which a curved hose is readily and sanitarily contracted and stored by a user, or by which stand storage with good appearance is allowed. SOLUTION: When a hook 12 is fitted to a catching portion 11 to bring the vacuum cleaner 1 into a stand storage state, a push sensor 22 is pushed by a pushing portion 21 provided at the hook 12, and information that the hook 12 is fitted to the catching portion 11 (stand storage state) is transmitted to a controlling microcomputer (not illustrated) through an electric circuit not illustrated. At the same time, an inside space from a valve 26 to a vacuum cleaner body 2 is sealed by the valve 26, and operation for contracting a stretchable hose 14 and storing it into a cover 10 is started by the controlling microcomputer (not illustrated).
