PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording layer for an optical information recording medium which is excellent not only in initial reflectance and recording mark forming properties, but also extremely high durability even in high temperature/humidity environments and sufficient applicability to a next generation optical disc of a bluish purple laser.

SOLUTION: This recording layer is for use in an optical information recording medium where the recording mark is formed by the irradiation of a laser beam. The recording layer is formed of an Sn group alloy containing 5 to 50% (means atom%, hereinafter the same) In and/or 12 to 40% Zn.
